With our second quarry confirmed, we made our way back north, refreshed and now eager for complete submersion in another building. Finding an open window, it was short work to quickly climb up and through, and stand in the office beyond. The room smelt of musk and mould; a familiar stink to those who’ve spent any time in a derelict building. The office yielded nothing of interest, and we found ourselves in a drab spine corridor running the length of the building. Checking the other offices revealed nothing much; I was looking for site documentation such as maps and plans; any names or functions I could hang onto these buildings. It was simply empty offices, cleared filing cabinets and old 3” floppies. It wasn’t until we crossed the corridor and tried the doors on the other side that we entered another world.
