The boiler room is caked with years of pigeon crap, whilst the equipment itself is ancient and rusty.
These enormous fuel tanks now stand empty. They originally held the marine diesel to run the boilers.

"I don't think that this is a fuel tank. Rather I suggest that it is the base
of the chimney stack venting boiler exhaust gases to atmosphere. (Imagine it as a ship's funnel sat on the ground).
